WE TOOK 28 HAPPY SKIERS and
SNOWBOARDERS to Telluride with the JSC March 1-8. Telluride has to be
one of the most picturesque ski resorts on earth. It is in a box
canyon and surrounded by the majestic San Juan Mountains.
The Telluride Lodge, our
home away from home, was conveniently located approximately 200 yards
from one of the main lifts, Chair 7, to the mountain. This is where
many of us met each morning to begin our day on the mountain.
We began our week with a
pizza party Friday night and a guest from Telluride Mountain, Beau, he
gave us tons of information on the area, ski school, great places to
eat and play. Beau was also our personal tour guide on Monday for a
Mountain tour.
We couldn’t have asked for
a better week of skiing/snowboarding, fresh snow every day, Blue Bird
skies all but one day and Telluride grooms over half of their green
and blue slopes. The hard core skiers/snowboarders had plenty of
black runs, moguls and extreme terrain to experience. Most of us were
on the slopes at least 5 days from 9 AM until a 3:00 or 4:00.
The group met everyday for
lunch at a different restaurant either on the mountain or in the Mt
Village. This was a great time to re-group rest and plan our
afternoon on the slopes.
Early in the week we
discovered Telluride passes out Milk Chocolate Truffles between
3:00-3-30 at chair lift 4. This became our final meeting place before
either skiing or taking the gondola to town and our condos and making
plans for après ski.
We ended our week in
Telluride Friday night with a farewell dinner and birthday party for
Patsy. The week was great and this lead to a great party with
everyone telling stories of all the wild and crazy fun we shared on
and off the slopes.
